Go Green

Going green is easier than you think!

Tips to Go Green

  1. Invest in a reusable water bottle, glass, BPA Free or Stainless Steel is best.
  2. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. It’s recommended to brush your teeth for 2 minutes so by turning the water off during that time you can save up to 5 gallons of water a day. This is a great habit to teach children too!
  3. Use dimmer switches as they use less energy and reduce your electricity bills.
  4. Switch to glass storage containers for packing leftovers or meals on the go! Get rid of the plastic tupperware, it leaches chemicals into your food, especially if it gets heated. Remember to never microwave anything in plastic containers!
  5. Buy stainless steel straws instead of wasting plastic straws, Eco at Heart is an excellent company that offers eco friendly, reusable stainless steel straws.
  6. Buy Organic fruits and veggies as they are produced without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Don’t forget to bring your reusable tote too ;).
  7. Plant a tree, flowers, herbs or start a little garden! Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air so we can breathe it in and thrive. Check out Seeds Now to jump start your own herb garden.
  8. Detox your home and beauty routine! Get rid of toxic household cleaners and switch to more natural cleaners. There are a lot of great brands that offer safe ingredients in their cleaners or you can always DIY!
  9. Switch to “Unpaper” Towels and napkins! It’s so simple! Generationme offers unpaper towels and napkins that are reusable cloth fabric and even roll up like a paper towel roll, just toss in the laundry and reuse!
  10. Embrace natural beauty! You don’t have to give up your make-up routine, but choose beauty products that have natural, organic ingredients. Looking for a natural beauty recommendation? Let us know, we’d be happy to help!
  11. BYOB.. Bags of course!  When grocery shopping or any shopping really, bring your own reusable bags. Canvas totes are perfect for a run to the local farmers market or to pick up household essentials.
  12.  Start a Compost Pile. Composting helps the environment by recycling organic resources while conserving landfill space.
